Robots are definitely valuable in education

We have seen many versions and types of robots being introduced into our daily lives. There are companies investing in building their unique industrial robots and/or simpler robots suitable for use in homes and offices. In fact, we have come across people lamenting that there is a fear that robots will replace their jobs in the near future. Thus, it is time for us to start thinking of how to be better than robots, to manage the robots and not to allow them to create redundancy for us. Education with use of robots is gaining traction by many schools worldwide.

It is indeed imminent for us to incorporate robots as valuable STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) educational tools. In fact, children welcome the use of robots in their educational curriculum. Robots can capture a child’s imagination like no other tool by creating a fun, physical learning process. With robots, kids learn programming via interactive play by moving a robot in various sequences and using intuitive, visual programming on a computer screen.

“Building and programming robots is part of becoming a creative science and engineering kind of person ” – Larry Johnson, CEO of the New Media Consortium.

Working with robots also provide the children another opportunity to equip themselves with computational thinking, a thought process that is relevant to problem solving progression, which the children have to learn to make the machines/computers work in the ways they desire to. The children are taught to explore and think creatively to achieve their solutions. It is the basis of getting the children to be innovative. As they learn and apply their knowledge, they are trained to be future problem solvers.

It is definitely essential to equip the young generation with computational skill. Everyone needs learn and adapt to stay relevant, especially in the upcoming SMART NATION.

Check out our course on robotics to kick start your journey to manage the robots https://www.kidscode.sg/product/brainary-interactive-workshop/ and/or get an EZ-Robot https://www.kidscode.sg/product-category/kits/ home. EZ-Robot is an open-source software and hardware platform that promote students learn to craft and program new robots as well as share those creations and programs with other EZ-Robot users.
